What makes SU so special?

Guess what? Yes, you are right Summer University is coming!

I am sure that the majority of people waited for Summer University the whole year but what about the rest? The rest might ask themselves whether choosing SU as your main summer activity is the right decision as there are other fun activities which you can do during summer time.

But wait...Don’t overthink trying to find the right answers as I am here to help you and answer your own question.

Now, I would like to give you a piece of advice, which is “Write a to-do list” for your Summer.

Ready?

Now check yours with the one we have:
1. Travel
2. Make new friends
3. Learn
4. Develop
5. Have fun

I am sure that your list is the same or at least similar to ours.

At first, let’s discuss traveling. Summer University takes place in various places, thus you have the opportunity to travel to different countries, cities, explore the World. SU offers many excursions throughout its duration, so you will be able to travel, discover new places and come closer to a culture which is in one or another way different from yours.

SU gathers many students from every possible angle of this world for you, yes exactly for you. You will have the chance to make new acquaintances and become really good friends with most of them as living together for two weeks and spending quality time with all these people is fairly enough for building a strong friendship.

Moving forward to the next point which is learning, occupies a huge role in SU’s activities. Each Summer University program has its own theme which can be related to European Integration, International Politics, Intercultural Dialogue, Active Citizenship, Democracy, Sustainability, Education, Culture, Peace and Personal Development. The selected theme is being thoroughly discussed and practiced during the project by all the participants and explained by the trainers or organizers. This activity allows students to get a clear image of the theme, develop their communication, leadership, team working skills and also critical thinking.

Although all the components of this project are fun and interesting you might also be curious about more fun and relaxing things, which are surely parties. And here I come making you happy again, as every single SU has its own parties, which are as interesting and surprising as the rest of the activities.

I would like to mention that SU greatly differs from other programs as some of them follow one goal, like traveling, communication with foreigners while others concentrate their attention on non-formal education. But here we are noticing that SU combined all the aims and activities together to make your life not only easier but also more productive and interesting. Mentioning that SU provides people with irreplaceable experience is not only an assumption but also a fact which has been proved by many SU delegates, this experience is deeper than it might seem and will definitely be useful for your further development.

And what now? I think that I assured you why you have to choose SU and answered all your questions.

Our team is waiting to see your smiling face!

Wishing you good luck,
Ilona Tsaghikyan

And either way you are travelling for Summer University, or in the rest of your trips during the year, we would like to give you some tips and motivation to travel in a more sustainable way, because it is all of our responsibilities to give up of comfort to save our earth.  PLANNING YOUR TRIP How can I get around the different places?   A very funny and a free way to travel from one city to another is doing hitchhike ! Some people are afraid to do it, but following some tips, it’s really easy. First of all, is very important to go in pairs, both of you will be more s...

Why should we choose SU among the abundance of other summer activities?

Five senses have been given us thousands of years ago to discover. They were always the elements that made us, they are now, and they will be until the end.    In this article, the topic is not 5 senses but something we are much familiar, an occasion we call “summer adventure” that is actually related somehow!    Paulo Coelho says “The danger of an adventure is worth a thousand days of ease and comfort.” Isn’t it how we live within AEGEE? Precisely! Getting out of comfort zone what makes us AEGEEans. And when you feel the spirit, it is not very easy to get rid of “the comfort and cosy” sleeping mattress during the summer. Spending less time sleeping to discover, talk, wonder, have fun… is what summers are made for. When no one knows who you actually are but you know that people come for a common reason that is “living the moment”, isn’t it the easiest way to communicate with each other as stronger? Isn’t it how we have such a strong and huge networ...
